Lexus reveals LC Convertible
Lexus has previewed an open-top version of its gorgeous LC coupe that is set to go into production later this year.
The Japanese luxury brand has revealed a thinly-veiled concept of the LC Convertible ahead of this weeks Detroit motor show, coming exactly two years after the debut of the V8-powered sports car.
The two-plus-two seater convertible faithfully maintains the sleek style of the LC Coupe, from its steeply-raked windscreen to its 22-inch alloy wheels and three-dimensional tail lights.
While unconfirmed yet, the car is expected to feature a fabric folding roof under its rear deck and will likely be offered with the same powertrain configurations as the hard top, which can be had with either a 5.0-litre V8 or a V6 hybrid.
In any case, the chief designer of the LC, Tadao Mori, said "This concept takes the unmistakable design of the LC coupe and reimagines it as a future convertible. It blends all the best aspects of the original coupe with the dynamic design of an open-air convertible.”
“You would see its dynamic lines as you approach, hear its engine when you started it up and feel everything around you once on the road. It would engage the senses in a way that is unique and exciting every time you got behind the wheel."
