So James Bond drives an EV now?
Rumours are circulating around what car Daniel Craig will get behind the wheel of in the new ‘Bond 25’ film, potentially titledShatterhand, maybe.
The well-mannered British bad boy will keep it in the country with his classic choice of Aston Martin, but rather than some loud and proud petrol-guzzling machine, he’ll apparently be zipping around in the silent-but-sexy all-electric Aston Martin Rapide E.
It’s the first electric vehicle from the storied manufacturer, capable of going from zero-to-97 km/h in 4.0 seconds and maxing out at a blistering 410 km/h.
The price for one of the 155 models is a cool £250,000 ($441,249)—small potatoes for the deep coffers of Her Majesty’s Secret Service.
The UK’s The Sun was told by an insider “the decision was spearheaded by the film’s new director, who’s a total tree-hugger.”
Said “total tree-hugger” is Cary Joji Fukunaga, known forBeasts of No Nation,Sin Nombre, and season one ofTrue Detective.
The Sun’s source went on. “Everybody is afraid of Bond getting labelled ‘too PC’ but they all felt the time was right to put him in a zero-emission vehicle,” they said.
So, does an environmentally friendly vehicle fit with Bond persona? Well, any true Bond fan will tell you that 007 rarely chooses his own cars. That’s Q’s job, and the source confirms that this Bond car will have “all the high-tech gadgets.”
Let’s let Q do his thing.
