The new SylvanSport Vast trailer is the Transformers of the camping world. At first glance, it looks like a fairly normal, maybe even boring, piece of adventure gear. However, once you find the ideal campsite, owners can open the window, extend the awning, and slide out the kitchen. The judges at this years inaugural RVX show, where the Vast debuted, thought the rig was so cool they voted it #1 RV for Outdoor Adventure.

The Vasts kitchen is by far the trailers coolest feature. It occupies a spot inside the trailer, but when you find a camping spot, the entire cooking area slides down and outside the trailer, which allows for making meals outside. The kitchen setup includes a bamboo prep area, two-burner gas stove, portable refrigerator and freezer, and a sink.

When the kitchen extends, it also reveals a shower in the bathroom. Theres an on-demand water heater for extra convenience, and a foldaway sink makes the most of the small space.

The transformation doesnt end with the kitchen and bathroom, though. On the inside, theres a sliding L-shaped couch on a track. When fully forward, it creates a garage area thats accessible from opening the large rear hatch. If theres nothing to stow in the garage, then the couch can slide backward to offer greater living space in the trailer. In addition, the increased area allows for folding down a table. When its time to sleep, the backrest folds down to make a queen-sized bed, and theres a second, roof-mounted sleeping spot on a motorized lift.

On the outside, the Vast has a few surprises, too. Vertical racks on the drivers side act as mounting points for larger pieces of gear, like kayaks in these images. A lockable storage pod at the front also provides 18 cubic feet (509.7 liters) of hidden cargo space. It also slides forward to reveal two propane tanks, two batteries, and a spare tire.

SylvanSport is taking pre-orders for the Vast now for a starting price of $49,995.
